KIS2026: Malaysia's National Internet Safety Campaign Explained
Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) officially launched the KIS 2026 (Kempen Internet Selamat 2026) campaign on February 8, 2026 — Safer Internet Day — making it one of the country's most significant digital-literacy initiatives to date.
What is KIS2026?
KIS stands for Kempen Internet Selamat, which translates to the Safe Internet Campaign. The KIS2026 edition marks a strategic evolution from previous years: rather than focusing on urban tech hubs, the campaign deliberately takes its message to grassroots communities — villages, districts, and county-level populations who may have less exposure to online safety education.
KIS2026 Focus Areas
This year's KIS2026 initiative concentrates on three core themes: protecting children from online predators, combating misinformation and fake news, and raising awareness about data privacy. Workshops and roadshows are scheduled at community halls, schools, and public spaces throughout 2026.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil personally launched KIS2026, underscoring the government's commitment to building a safer digital ecosystem for all Malaysians regardless of geography or demographics.
KIS2026 Community Impact
By bringing the KIS2026 campaign to the grassroots level, MCMC aims to reach populations who are newly connected to the internet through affordable smartphones and expanding mobile broadband coverage. The initiative includes multilingual content — available in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, and Tamil — to ensure maximum reach.
Parents, educators, and local community leaders are encouraged to participate in KIS2026 workshops and share resources within their networks. The campaign's official materials and registration links are available through the MCMC website.
